Does custom-made interview attire really give flight attendants and operations staff an edge in interviews?
I’ll get straight to the point: yes, it does! However, we need to clarify that the advantage isn’t because 'it’s custom-made,' but because of 'the quality and aura displayed when wearing a well-fitted custom outfit.'
Imagine you enter a new environment full of strangers. What kind of person would initially catch your eye? Who would you want to befriend first? Would it be someone who looks like they made an effort to dress up, or someone who appears casual and laid-back? Would it be someone who stands tall and confident, or someone who looks shy and lacking in confidence? Most people would likely choose the former! Interviewers are no different! Additionally, flight attendants and operations staff are positions that interact directly with customers, so companies naturally want to find someone who makes a good impression at first glance. Thus, whether you create a favorable impression on the interviewer is a crucial factor, often referred to as 'chemistry'.
At this point, two questions may arise. First, you might be thinking: 'Chemistry is something you’re born with!' I can only say, oh no, that’s not true at all! If someone tells you that chemistry is purely luck, I must bluntly say they are someone who doesn’t understand the importance of self-reflection and believes that any issues lie solely with others, not themselves. Chemistry is related to psychology, so it’s a science. We could discuss this topic for three days and nights without exhausting it. In my flight attendant course, I will teach everyone how to consciously create 'good chemistry.' To sum it up, I would say 'chemistry is 70% skill and 30% luck,' or, as I prefer to say, '70% science and 30% mystique.
The second question you might ask is: 'If interview attire has standard regulations and everyone wears similar outfits, how is there a difference between someone who dressed up seriously and someone who came casually?' This is exactly why you need custom-made interview attire! You must showcase your uniqueness and sincerity within these constraints. Everyone's body is unique, and custom tailoring can create a fitted interview outfit that perfectly suits your physique. This is far superior to wearing ill-fitting ready-to-wear clothes, which helps you present a sharp and professional image, indicating the importance you place on this interview.
When you see other candidates wearing ill-fitting or wrinkled off-the-rack outfits, you'll also recognize the superior quality of your own attire, which can boost your confidence. Though this aura is not visible to the naked eye, it can indeed influence the atmosphere around you and how the interviewer perceives you.
So, if you want to increase your interview 'chemistry,' the first scientific method is to get a custom-made interview outfit! Finally, I suggest that aside from companies that require a strict white shirt and black bottoms, you should avoid choosing the most commonly available black-and-white combinations. Instead, opt for 'colors that truly look good on you.' If you're unsure about how to choose colors, feel free to schedule a 'Flight Attendant Personal Image Development' course.
