Studying abroad involves many outfit details, so remember to keep international etiquette in mind!

Dressing Guidelines Based on the "TOP" Principle

Follow the "TOP" principle when coordinating your outfits to ensure you look your best while traveling.

1. Time: This refers to the "time" or "season," meaning your outfit should be appropriate for morning, afternoon, and evening, as well as for the seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

2. Occasion: This pertains to the "occasion," such as attending a meeting, formal banquet, casual gathering, or indoor versus outdoor events.

3. Position: This relates to your "status," including factors like age, profession, rank, or social standing.

Many teenagers abroad enjoy hosting parties at home or attending various dances at school. So how can you dress appropriately yet stylishly for these occasions? If you're unsure, let me give you some tips!

For suits, opt for a dark solid color. Since you want to minimize your luggage, pack one solid suit but bring several pairs of trousers in different colors. Pair them with various jackets to create a diverse and interesting daily look!

For more formal occasions, you can wear a complete deep blue or black suit. However, if you're heading to a party in the evening, simply change your trousers or shirt for a fresh new look! Just be sure to keep the following dressing etiquette in mind for formal events:

Dressing Etiquette Details to Remember
1.
(1) Three-button suit: The top button can be buttoned or unbuttoned, the middle button should be buttoned, and the bottom button should remain unbuttoned.

(2) Two-button suit: The top button should be buttoned, while the bottom button should remain unbuttoned.

(3) One-button suit: This button can be buttoned or unbuttoned.

2. The trouser length should be just right, meaning it should gently touch the top edge of your shoes.

3. Avoid having "X wrinkles" next to the buttons, and make sure the shoulder line of the suit is neither extending beyond nor shorter than your shoulders.
